One Little Word 2019

January 3, 2019 By Talya Tate Boerner 6 Comments

One Little Word for 2019

It took me a while to come up with my One Little Word for 2019. I ended the year on a bone-tired note and began to wonder if I wanted to continue blogging at all. (Hahaha, of course I do!) But the truth is I’ve felt drained as of late, mainly because I let outside influences influence me. Seriously, the negative news and dialog can get to a person.

Anyway… If you aren’t familiar with One Little Word, click HERE and read all about the concept from founder Ali Edwards. In a nutshell, you choose a word for the year and rally around that word as inspiration throughout the year. The brain really is incredible. It’s amazing what will happen if you focus energy on the positive.

A single word can be a powerful thing. ~ Ali Edwards

I believe it.

In past years I’ve chosen these words: believe, balance, focus, savor, grow. Whatever I happened to be doing, I’ve made my word part of the equation. And for the most part, my word helped keep me centered, take the next step, and reach goals.

But everything feels different this year. Like I need a restart button. Maybe even a brief timeout to think and reboot.

So that’s where I’m starting.

Two Little Words: 2018

Two Little Words 2018

2018 marks my fourth year to choose One Little Word. Only this year I’m choosing two words. Two words to get me back on track.

The Concept of One Little Word

One Little Word is the brainchild of blogger Ali Edwards. Rather than setting resolutions broken by Groundhog’s Day, I choose a single word to focus on throughout the year. Sort of a theme for the year. A word to rally around. Something to keep you grounded when life goes bonkers.

My prior words turned out to be pretty powerful. This year I’m choosing two words because I believe two words are needed to restore balance in my life. Yes, I feel out of sync in a lot of ways.Continue Reading

Mid-January Thinks and Ungoals

January 18, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner 11 Comments

Mid-January thinks and ungoalsSince we’re on the backside of January, I thought I’d share my mid-January thinks and ungoals. If January is ideal for one thing, it’s thinking and planning. And re-thinking and re-grouping. January gives us a psychological clean slate.

Give me a clean slate and a piece of chalk and I will rule the world. ?

I know it’s early. Probably too early to call anything successful, but I’m feeling good about what I’ve done in the new year. Or what I’ve not done. I basically blocked off the entire month of January for myself. To write and rest and spend time with family. To think about what I want to do in 2017 and beyond. And I’m grateful to be in a place to do that.

No, I haven’t done any of the typical new year things. I haven’t cleaned out my closet or organized my desk. My junk drawer is still junky. Just yesterday, I bought my 2017 wall calendar. Tip—if you wait long enough you can purchase at 20% off. I haven’t worked out a single time other than walking the dogs and doing yoga once at home. Sorta.Continue Reading
