Dear Sunday Letter friends,

Good morning and happy Sunday. As we head into the middle of October, the temperatures in northwest Arkansas have finally dropped—it was 39 this morning! The asters are in full bloom. And, the Ozark hills and hollows are slowly coming alive with fall color.

I LOVE this time of year, this time before the holidays, before winter sets in and I begin to crave sunshine and watermelon again. Continue Reading

Dear Sunday Letter friends,

Fall officially begins on Wednesday, and I am oh-so-ready for cooler temperatures! We desperately need a rain in Northwest Arkansas. Our plants are tired and thirsty in a way the garden hose can’t quench.

Even though the heavens have been stingy with rain, the trees are beginning to show fall color in our neighborhood. When you live in a place long enough (and walk dogs 3-4 times a day), you learn which trees are the first to turn, which sidewalks will soon be covered in yellow leaves, which canopies become bright orange and flaming red. I’ve been studying those trees every day. And each day brings us closer to that magic time of year.Continue Reading

Happy Labor Day weekend to my Sunday Letter readers.

This year at our house, Labor Day weekend looks like any other weekend. Maybe you have something entertaining on your agenda? If so, please share in the comments so we can all join you. Virtually of course.

Often during this strange year, I’ve longed to be traveling someplace, someplace with a beach or lake or even a swimming hole, someplace different from today’s normal. Back to yesteryear or ahead to a time when life is more settled. Other times, most times, I’m extremely grateful to live in a comfortable home in a safe community, coexisting with both nature and kind people who are trying to change things for the better. Continue Reading
