Sunday Letter: 04.14.19

April 14, 2019 By Talya Tate Boerner

Sunday Letter

Good morning Sunday Letter readers,

I hope all is well in your corner of the world. After a trip to the farm, I’m back in Fayetteville. Even though I was only gone a few days, so much changed in our neighborhood! The dogwoods are in full bloom. Our hostas have fully emerged. Our backyard has leafed out in that special spring way, looking fresh and green and oh so lovely.

Look at this picture I took yesterday of our street. Notice the white dogwood on the right. It has a branch that always blooms pink! Love that quirkiness.

But what a difference a few hours makes. This morning we’ve already had a bit of snow and frozen precipitation.

Rude and mean and totally uncalled for, if you ask me.Continue Reading

He loves me, he loves me not…

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

Remember this verse?

He loves me,
He loves me not.
He loves me,
He loves me not.
He loves me…

When I was a young girl, my friends and I often plucked the petals of daisy-like flowers, hoping the final petal coincided with he loves me.

But… what if the last petal announced the wrong outcome? We plucked another flower and started over, of course.

It’s funny to think back on it. Especially since as fifth graders flitting and skipping around during recess, we had no idea who “he” was. Certainly he couldn’t be one of the boys in class. Gross. #cooties

He loves me, he loves me not…

One Little Word 2019

One Little Word for 2019

It took me a while to come up with my One Little Word for 2019. I ended the year on a bone-tired note and began to wonder if I wanted to continue blogging at all. (Hahaha, of course I do!) But the truth is I’ve felt drained as of late, mainly because I let outside influences influence me. Seriously, the negative news and dialog can get to a person.

Anyway… If you aren’t familiar with One Little Word, click HERE and read all about the concept from founder Ali Edwards. In a nutshell, you choose a word for the year and rally around that word as inspiration throughout the year. The brain really is incredible. It’s amazing what will happen if you focus energy on the positive.

A single word can be a powerful thing. ~ Ali Edwards

I believe it.

In past years I’ve chosen these words: believe, balance, focus, savor, grow. Whatever I happened to be doing, I’ve made my word part of the equation. And for the most part, my word helped keep me centered, take the next step, and reach goals.

But everything feels different this year. Like I need a restart button. Maybe even a brief timeout to think and reboot.

So that’s where I’m starting.
