a garland of bicycles

February 17, 2016 By Talya Tate Boerner 9 Comments

Paper Source Bicycle Garland

Firstย of all, I’m required to tell you this Paper Source bicycle garland was provided to me free of charge, but as usual, opinions are my own. Second of all, since movingย to Fayetteville, I’ll admit that I miss being able to pop into Paper Source at Northpark Mall. It was my go-to wonderland for cards and ink stamps and paper of all types. In other words, my paper source. Luckily, Shindig Paperie in Fayetteville carries Paper Source products (on a smaller scale), and thankfully on-line ordering is always available to those of us who enjoy shopping while baking cupcakes.

Anyhoo. When Paper Source offered my choice of items to fancy up my book signing party, I opted for the bicycle garland.ย After all, Gracie Lee’s main mode of transportation to and from the mysterious gray house was her bicycle.

(If you have no idea who Gracie Lee is, click HERE and HERE and HERE to catch up a bit.)

So this garland. It’s the cutest. The folks at Paper Source shipped it to me at my mom’s house on the farm in the boonies with only a few hours’ notice. Silly me, I didn’t realize the garland was an actual craft kit. (Not because it wasn’t clearly described on the website, but because I was distracted by all the things I needed to do to pull off aย book signing party.)

But, a little crafting timeย turned out to be just what my friends and I needed.

We madeย another runย to Walmart for glue sticks because somehowย in the vastness of Momma’s fun house junk drawers, no glue of any sort could be found.

Weย punched out circles and spokes and bike frames. A few of us put together bicycles. We drank a little wine and took a few pictures.

Look how adorable it turned out hanging from my book signing table at That Bookstore in Blytheville.

Each kit makes twelve bicycles. You’ll need glue, scissors, and tape. My bicycle garlandย will become a regular feature at my book signings. Gracie Lee approved for sure!

When I drove my bicycle on the road in front of our house, the land in every direction looked flat enough to walk between two rows of cotton and off the edge of the planet. Living in the Mississippi Delta made it hard to believe the Earth was round. (The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee, Talya Tate Boerner)

Love the bicycles. Great touch for the book signing. (I have one on my “ice box”. How did that happen?)

Pretty cool! I wondered if they were something you cooked or found in your travels, looks like both
