Dear October,

October 2, 2015 By Talya Tate Boerner 4 Comments

Dear October,

Dear October,

Oh! I rejoice in your spirit, your essence. The memories of things past. The warmth of good things to come. The flavors and colors and aromas you bring, like aย friend whose stories never get old, whose laugh is always familiar no matter how much time has passed between visits.

Roadsideย pumpkin patches, a blanket of orange leaves. Homemade popcorn balls and apples dipped in melted caramel. The smell of white gold during harvest.

Dear October - cotton!

Let’s do a moon dance ‘neath the cover of October skies.

I’ve been waiting for you, October. Waiting for the wondermentย and reassuranceย and remembrancesย you bring.

Baptize me with your goodness.

This is such a beautifully-rendered memory. Lovely writing. I wonder why it stuck with you so clearly, as well. You’re alone, but not lonely. I wonder if this is at the heart of it? There is also a sense of awe here. So interesting.
