in His sight

November 3, 2012 By Talya Tate Boerner

Remember those church songs from childhood— Jesus Loves Me and Jesus Loves the Little Children? We sang them in Vacation Bible School and church camp. They were the first lyrics we memorized, words we couldn’t forget if we tried.
red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight…

Eureka Springs, Spring Street, Arkansas
Spring Street, Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Yesterday, I thought about those songs while walking along Spring Street. It was a glorious autumn day with summer’s sidewalks buried under layers of leaves.

I searched for that perfect yellow leaf, brighter than all the rest, golden among scarlet and orange.

Unable to pick just one, they were all beautiful. Each different.

Precious in His sight—absolutely.

Good one, I’m waiting for sometime after lunch today to walk the neighborhood cuz I’m going to take a picture of the tree I pass every day going to work with it’s foliage range!

I have a cache of now-dry leaves that have sat since last Friday on my writing table. They have all turned dark, rich shades of maroon except for the “dish”–a browned cottonwood leaf holding the maple ones. They’re going to Benton with me as a remembrance–along with sugarplum visions of you, Tom, Dorothy and Joan. loveP

I had a group of leaves that I thumb-tacked to the bulletin board in my writing room. They will crumble to the floor and someone will have to clean them up but I left them anyway…Safe travels:))

Awesome, Talya! The trees here in the Nashville area are truly showing off their individual true colors, and I’m getting some great pictures with my iPhone. Each tree by itself is incredible in it’s own beauty, but a forest of trees with different colored leaves is truly a sight to behold.
