Sunday Letter: 07.15.18

July 15, 2018 By Talya Tate Boerner

Sunday Letter 07.15.18

Dear Sunday Letter friends,

Welcome to the backside of July. As we slip-slide into the dog days of summer, I find myself looking toward fall. Once 4th of July is over and my birthday comes and goes, the rest of summer feels like Side B of a record I was just dying to have.

Remember Side B?

We saved our money and begged our Mommas to drive us to town so we could hand over a few waded up paper bills. Then for the rest of the summer we played Side A over and over until we memorized all the lyrics or made up the words we couldn’t quite understand. Side A was everything we thought it would be, but the flip side? It was just okay. Not the reason we doled out the money in the first place.Continue Reading

4th of July: gentle on my mind

4th of July

my summer accomplishments

Today marks the first day of the last week of summer 2017. If I’m being honest, my summer accomplishment is pretty much singular. I did a handful of the things on my summer bucket list, which was a carryover from last summer’s bucket list. I had grilled lobster thanks to my sister-in-law. I read several books outside my normally preferred genres. John and I “sort of” hosted a porch party for the first Razorback home game. In other words, friends came, and we hung out on the porches for a while. And, I found the small church I plan to attend, but I haven’t yet.

So no, the church one doesn’t count.Continue Reading
