Write more, Love more!

January 21, 2015 By Talya Tate Boerner

Write more, Love more. This tagline is printed on the window of Shindig Paperie in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and what a great tagline it is. My new quest to write 52 letters in 2015 gave me the perfect excuse to visit. This well-curated shoppe filled with all things paper is located downtown just off the square. Downstairs. There’s something about a downstairs business (in a historic building—look at those bricks!) that makes for an intriguing shoppe rather than just another run-of-the-paper-mill store.

Shindig Paperie. Write More Love More

Oh my heart did a little flip flop when I walked into this place. (Dallas crafty obsessed friends: it’s like a cozier version of Paper Source at Northpark…)

Shindig Paperie

Cards and paper and pens and calendars and postcards and teeny tiny clothespins I’ve been wanting forever (because certain projects beg for them) and I could go on and on.

LOOK at this notepad I found.

Coolest notepad ever!

How do I love this paper made by Sugarboo Designs? Let me explain the ways—from the old-fashioned notebook paper it’s printed on to the pre-printed inspirational messages at the bottom. Each page includes a perforated stub. Tear off and scatter into the world as you please...tuck one under a pillow or inside a lunchbox, throw one on a dashboard or sneak it into a pocket, string onto a gift or hide inside a book, roll it up and float it out to sea. Anything is possible – Anything can be!

Neat, right?

Three weeks into January, and I’m on track with my #52Letters project. I’ve mailed three handwritten letters:)

Simple Pleasures #8

November 24, 2014 By Talya Tate Boerner

Sometimes the simplest pleasures involve accomplishing tasks around the house and checking off To-Do list items. Like finally installing our new mailbox. I’m not sure why this house had no mailbox whatsoever, but I LOVE our new one from Moda Industria.  It’s a work of art ❣

And two months after moving, we installed our porch swing. Yay!

After several quiet days of uninterrupted writing and editing time, Friday marked the kickoff of Lights of the Ozarks around the Fayetteville Square. Since before Halloween, Fayetteville Parks and Recreation employees have been hard at work installing more than half a million twinkle lights. Twinkle lights make me happy. And who doesn’t love an old-fashioned Christmas parade?

Although the weekend turned stormy with rolling thunder and steady rain—not ideal for the last Razorback home game (another shutout!!)—it was peaceful nonetheless. John whipped up one of his fantastic frittatas on Saturday morning, and we spent the day in front of the fire, reading and watching football between naps. My Baylor Bears won too:)

Here’s wishing you a peaceful, productive week and a Happy Thanksgiving!

Simple Pleasures #1

September 28, 2014 By Talya Tate Boerner

Our first official week in our new (old) home was busy and often overwhelming, yet filled with happy-to-be-back-in-Arkansas simple pleasures. Simple pleasures worth recapping now to remember later…

simple pleasures

Cool, fall weather. Chilly mornings, perfect afternoons. Sleeping with the windows open. What can I say, fall is my favorite season! I bought my first pumpkin:)

Lots of long walks. Lucy and Annabelle are dog tired by day’s end. John and I enjoyed walking to the square and farmer’s market, Dickson Street for lunch, and Razorback Stadium. Living in a walkable town is such a bonus.

I am thankful for the luxury of time. Time to unpack boxes and arrange things we’ve collected through the years. Even with all the chaos, there was time to think and talk about planning our yard and garden.

Beans and Cornbread. Cooking my first meal in the house felt good and right. Brown beans and skillet cornbread – yum!

Television. After two visits from AT&T UVerse (never fun), we had television just in time to watch college football. The Razorbacks didn’t fare so well, but my Baylor Bears looked strong! Supporting multiple teams is a good thing.

Ice Cream. Last summer thanks to Yarnell’s and Arkansas Women Bloggers, I won a free half-gallon of ice cream. I finally collected it. I chose Ozark Black Walnut. Yummy! Yarnell’s is an Arkansas tradition.

What simple pleasures did you enjoy last week?
