Lucy and Annabelle go to Klyde Warren Park

December 29, 2016 By Talya Tate Boerner

Lucy and Annabelle go to Klyde Warren Park

On the day after Christmas, Lucy and Annabelle went for a walk around Klyde Warren Park. John and I went, too, along with half of the city of Dallas. Apparently lots of people in north Texas shared our game plan—to get out, enjoy the day, and step away from the leftovers. And no one was wearing those heavy sweaters and scarves Santa brought for Christmas. Folks dressed in shorts and threw footballs or lounged on blankets while barefoot kids splashed in the fountain. Although the weather felt more like the first day of spring break, there were plenty of gorgeous decorations to remind us of the season. Lest we forget.

Enjoy it while we can, I say, because it won’t last. Winter WILL eventually have his way.Continue Reading

Lucy and Annabelle review BarkBox

Lucy and Annabelle get a BarkBox

It was bound to happen. Lucy and Annabelle now have their own subscription to BarkBox. If you have dogs, I’m sure you’ve seen the ads pop up on your Facebook feed. We’ve reached the point in time when nearly every little thing can be delivered to our doorsteps customized to our specific profiles— organic ingredients with step-by-step recipe cards, the latest beauty offerings, shoes and clothing I can try on in my own cluttered closet, razor blades, wine, gourmet bacon, and more.

Not that I’m complaining.Continue Reading

Olympic Memories. Then and Now.

August 9, 2016 By Talya Tate Boerner

Olympic Memories

Our entire family waited for the Olympics to start, and we watched every night. Momma popped a huge skillet of popcorn, slightly burned because that’s how Daddy liked it, and we ate in front of the television. Another night we had chocolate pudding in individual bowls because that was Daddy’s favorite dessert.

A Romanian girl named Nadia Comaneci dominated. We were the same age…

Oh, to be a perfect 10.

At anything.Continue Reading
