Inauguration Day. Ready or not.

January 20, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Inauguration Day. Ready or Not.

I had plans to blog today about Inauguration Day. The history behind it. The weight and magnitude of it. And how, ready or not, Inauguration Day is a great day in America. I had plans to say no matter how someone feels about Donald Trump, we can all celebrate the bigger picture and the fact that we live in a country where truly the most unlikely of candidates can become President.

And I am saying all that because it’s what I believe.

Mid-January Thinks and Ungoals

January 18, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Mid-January thinks and ungoalsSince we’re on the backside of January, I thought I’d share my mid-January thinks and ungoals. If January is ideal for one thing, it’s thinking and planning. And re-thinking and re-grouping. January gives us a psychological clean slate.

Give me a clean slate and a piece of chalk and I will rule the world. ?

I know it’s early. Probably too early to call anything successful, but I’m feeling good about what I’ve done in the new year. Or what I’ve not done. I basically blocked off the entire month of January for myself. To write and rest and spend time with family. To think about what I want to do in 2017 and beyond. And I’m grateful to be in a place to do that.

No, I haven’t done any of the typical new year things. I haven’t cleaned out my closet or organized my desk. My junk drawer is still junky. Just yesterday, I bought my 2017 wall calendar. Tip—if you wait long enough you can purchase at 20% off. I haven’t worked out a single time other than walking the dogs and doing yoga once at home. Sorta.Continue Reading

Turns out, I’m not a princess.

January 13, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Turns out I'm not a princess. And I don't live in La La Land.Turns out, I’m not a princess.

Not there was ever really a doubt of my lineage. But still, Papa Creecy called me a princess once or twice or a zillion times. Uncle Rex treated me like a princess. And there were a few times in college (ahem) I felt like one. Sorta.

I’m not. A princess. This truth was 100% confirmed last night. Actually this morning.

But first. Yesterday afternoon, I saw La La Land. And I LOVED it so so much. And the more I think about it, the more I LOVE it. Mia (Emma Stone) is adorable wearing swishy-skirted throwback dresses with slightly, I did-nothing-whatsoever (but probably quite a lot) to get these natural waves in my radiant red hair. She’s fresh-faced and optimistic. Princess-like in such a charming way.Continue Reading
