Rosemary Infused Olive Oil

March 21, 2013 By Talya Tate Boerner

Rosemary Infused Olive Oil
We have so much rosemary growing in our garden, I am forever trying to work it into cooking, cleaning and decorating.
This rosemary infused olive oil is very flavorful, can be used in a variety of recipes and makes a great gift.
Ingredients
1 cup olive oil
5-6 sprigs rosemary
rosemary infused olive oil - great gift idea
Heat olive oil and rosemary on the stovetop on medium heat for five minutes. Return to room temperature.
Place a few of the rosemary twigs inside a decorative container and fill with olive oil. This will store in the refrigerator for a month.
Rosemary Snacks…

Popcorn: For an unusual twist on an old standby, drizzle a tablespoon of rosemary infused olive oil over air-popped popcorn. Sprinkle with finely chopped rosemary and sea salt. Yum!

Almonds: Spread 2-3 cups raw almonds on a cookie sheet. Drizzle rosemary infused olive oil over and mix to lightly coat. Sprinkle with sea salt, cayenne, chopped rosemary to taste. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Delicious!

Enjoy!

Once upon a time there was a calendar…

January 3, 2013 By Talya Tate Boerner

I blog because I love to write. I would blog if no one read my posts.
I am not a crafty blogger, yet I applaud all those talented bloggers who create a craft a day. I am in awe of people who fashion an entire wall unit from discarded wooden pallets found behind Home Depot. I am in awe enough to pin their pictures to my virtual bulletin boards on Pinterest, in case the urge strikes.

My blog focus is simply about stories. Telling stories through humor or heartache or pictures or poetry.
This is the story of my 2013 calendar and possibly my only semi-craft blog post for the year…
I LOVE this little D.I.Y calendar I received for Christmas. One page per month, blank other than the pre-printed calendar. The pages are clean and simple. The paper is heavy duty and 100% recycled.
There is open space for doodling and drawing, painting, stamping. For only $8.95, the possibilities are endless…
I couldn’t wait to start on January.
Before
After

At the end of the year, twelve pieces of art!

Of course a truly crafty blogger would easily make this entire project with blank card stock, printing the calendar as well as creating a monthly design…. I’d rather write about it.

Munger Place Days

September 17, 2012 By Talya Tate Boerner

In January 1977, the National Apartment and Home Builder Convention met in Dallas. On the agenda, a home tour of newly built Fox & Jacob homes, zero lot model homes at the Villas of Las Colinas, several recently constructed multi-family developments scattered throughout city and almost as an afterthought, a remodeling tour with stops in Munger Place and along Swiss Avenue.
These turn-of-the-century-built homes were slowly being saved thanks to a handful of tireless folks with the grace and forethought to recognize these treasures were worth saving.
The first unofficial Munger Place home tour?

This year’s home tour, Munger Place Days, kicks off Friday night with a wine walk and intimate preview of the homes on tour. Saturday’s activities include a tour of six historic homes with riveting histories – including a ghost and an Olympic gold medalist. The tour will continue on Sunday along with an old-fashioned street festival, complete with live music, six food trucks offering everything from whoopee pies to grilled cheese sandwiches, a pet parade, cakewalk, an art fair with over fifty artisans, and much more.
If you live in the metroplex area, take a few hours to step back in time at Munger Place Days. If you live elsewhere, it might be worth a road trip!
