Chicken and Dumplings

I can’t think of Mammaw Ruby (my grandmother on Daddy’s side) without thinking of chicken and dumplings. Hers were the best! She made a huge pot full for every family gathering.

Sunday was a glorious spring-like day. And all the plants went out to play.

Which plants?

The plants that have been hanging out in our garage, and on our kitchen countertops and windowsills. They’ve begun to look a little peaked as of late.

I took them to the back porch to get a bit of fresh air and sunshine. I swear, I heard them sigh as they spread fronds and unfurled leaves. Seriously, the whole day was like a daydream.Continue Reading
