That Bookstore: It’s a wrap!

February 16, 2016 By Talya Tate Boerner 13 Comments

That Bookstore in Blytheville: it's a wrap!

THANK YOU to all of Mississippi County and beyond, to everyone who came to my first book signing at That Bookstore in Blytheville. If I used all of my colored pencils and only the best words I know, I couldn’t have written a better day. It’s a wrap, but I don’t want to forget a second of it.

And I have so many folks to thank!

Thank you to friends and family who represented big time—hometown people, high school classmates, teachers, cousins from all over, locals who support local, those who came because of my Momma, an Arkansas State Senator, business owners, fellow writers/bloggers, media, and those who came for cupcakes. Believe it or not, friends traveled to northeast Arkansas from EIGHT different states. I mean seriously?? Eight states. Missouri. Arkansas. Tennessee. Alabama. Mississippi. Texas. Colorado. Georgia. (Almost forgot Georgia!) These same friends and family members took and shared lots of great pictures and spread the news of my book. And they continue to share the news of my book and write reviews on Amazon.  (#GracieLeeFanClub)

I came for the cupcakes - The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee Book signing

Thank you to friends who sent flowers! You’ll be receiving a proper thank you note soon.

Thank you to my “handlers” who took care of business, kept everything going smoothly, and even baked cupcakes the night before. You know who you are.

Thank you to everyone who bought a book (and multiple books!), Gracie Lee shirts, and coffee cups. We sold out of hardbacks in the first five minutes. By the end of the event there were a few shirts and cups left and only a handful of paperbacks remaining. (Call That Bookstore in Blytheville if you are interested. The bookstore can order more…)

Thank you to sponsor Southern Girl Soapery who donated bath and body goodies to my door prize packages. Winners were Lesa Delancey and Charles Mobley. I’m sure someone got a picture of them with their goodies, but I didn’t. I never left my signing chair.

Thank you to Chris Crawley at That Bookstore in Blytheville for your hospitality and for letting us “take over” the bookstore. We accidentally stole your little green polka dot basket (pictured above) but Momma will return it asap.

Thank you to anyone I’ve left out. I’m still taking it all in.

Next up: Fayetteville, Arkansas! Join me at French Metro Antiques on Thursday from 5-7 and let’s keep this party going.

OMG! I don’t know why I keep pretending you live in Alabama too. Eight states! Correcting now. Woo-hoo.

I did live in Alabama for 35 years, so you’re forgiven for thinking I might still be there with my mother. 🙂

I’m thrilled it went so well but not surprised, and I’m excited to get to be there tomorrow night. I bet it will another smashing success. You deserve it. See you soon!

Oh, what fun we had. Those “handlers” know how to host a party, and that Talya knows how to write a book!! WOW! I never doubted it.
