I love everything about Blackboard Grocery & Eatery on Dickson from the cool, urban vibe to the bright open window in front of the sandwich bar. This, my friends, is a true Fayetteville find and definitely something needed in the area.
Um, yes, they have breakfast tacos! Take it from someone who recently moved from Dallas, breakfast tacos are sorely underrepresented in Fayetteville. Owner Lycia Shrum hails from Austin, so naturally, she knows a thing or two about building a breakfast taco.
Located at 644 W. Dickson (closer to campus than not), Blackboard has been open not quite a year. The small grocereatery (#madeupword) contains staple grocery items, an impressive coffee/tea menu (featuring local Onyx Coffee and Savoy Tea), yummy pastries, and a full kitchen in back where sandwiches are made fresh to order. And, of course, Blackboard has gluten-free and vegetarian friendly choices.
I can easily give five stars to the Latte I grabbed last week on my way out of town. It was creamy and piping hot, and I wish I had one now.
Blackboard is a jewel box of a place—everything about it seems thoughtfully arranged and carefully selected. I even love the font used on the menu board. Fonts matter, y’all.

Do you find these neat places, or do they find you! This looks like a place I need to visit the next time we are in Fayetteville.

I also grew up in the delta ( Wilson High School class of 1965) and now live in Springdale.
I have been following your postings on Facebook for a few months but only recently realized you had moved to Fayetteville so now we’re neighbors again. I plan on being at Apple Blossom on Tuesday and will try to find you in the crowd. I look forward to meeting you and sharing some recollections of growing up in south Mississippi County.

Excellent! I look forward to seeing you. Was my Momma your English teacher? Barbara Tate? Seems like she taught everyone in Wilson during that time.

Great post. It made me wish I could spend a little time there.

Thanks for discovering this place that I must now visit, of course!
