I miss Dallas at Christmas

December 17, 2014 By Talya Tate Boerner

Yes, there are a few things I miss about Dallas. Especially at Christmas. Not that I don’t lovelovelove Fayetteville, because I do. But I miss Chester and his people, Harold and Gale, and other Munger Place friends too numerous to mention.

Chester and Annabelle

Chester and Annabelle. Best buddies.

Munger Place porch parties, impromptu get togethers and holiday parties are unique and special.

Especially at Christmas.

I missed my nephew march in his first ever Christmas parade. I’m all about a Christmas parade. Shout out to Zach!

Jasper Band, Plano, Tx

I don’t think Zach is in this picture, but he’s somewhere in this group. Jasper Band (Plano, Tx) is HUGE.

I miss Pei Wei. I do. And Scalini’s. And Tex-Mex in general. Tex-Mex is hard to come by in Fayetteville (or at least I haven’t found it yet).

I miss my rosemary plant. For the first time in at least twelve years, I had to buy rosemary at Thanksgiving. Craziness. I’ll be planting rosemary soon, but I’m not confident it will survive Northwest Arkansas winters.

Truly fun neighborhood. There’s even a hoola hoop in the picture.

I miss Northpark Mall. Although I’m not much of a shopper, I do miss Northpark.

Especially at Christmas.

Dallas, I’ll be visiting soon! But I do lovelovelove Fayetteville. Just so we’re clear.

Yes! Plant your Rosemary and lavender! I mulch mine with cedar mulch through the winter and it has grown to three feet in diameter. My sister is a master Gardner, lives in the quaint town of Beaver and also grows Rosemary. Good luck!

Heyyyy Yewww! So… get this, I was born at Washington Regional and lived there until moving to Greenwood then Conway where I met my husband. We ended up moving to San Antonio in 2012. Oh the life of an Arkansas girl in a Texas world. I hope Arkansas is treating you well, Eureka Springs was always a favorite. My mom would take me there when the old mans cat was still alive. Oh and I miss the Grasshopper Crepes at Yugo’s!!

Yes Caden, I love Arkansas. I was born in Northeast Arkansas, so it’s great to be home. Yes to Eureka Springs and Yugo’s! San Antonio is a cool city. At least you have your choice of amazing Mexican food!!!

I understand how you feel, but I predict you’ll be organizing porch and block parties on Washington Street before long.

    Hi Talya,
First, Merry Christmas, Bet it will be wonderful and fun, despite you’re not in Dallas 🙂
Second, Let me know when you’ll be around the hood, so we can have a porch party, get together or whatever with several of the neighbors, of course, Harold and Gale included!
    Cheers!

Thanks Winnie and Merry Christmas to you and Bob! Actually, I will be in Plano on Christmas. Would love to see everyone in Munger, but not sure of our schedule as of now.

Talya fun post. I am sitting here in Dallas reading it, having spent a few days with family and old friends. I lived here 14 years and loved it. Also now a native of Fayetteville! We will have to get together and compare notes!
