miles to go

August 27, 2014 By Talya Tate Boerner

Over the past few days and nights, I haven’t had one moment to scribble out anything other than to-do lists, and that’s okay because John and I have accomplished quite a bit. Our things won’t arrive from Dallas for several weeks (because I haven’t packed the first box), so I’m hanging out in our new home, sleeping on a mattress on the floor, sitting in old leather chairs that desperately need to be re-worked (but I like the battered feel of them), and unpacking kitchen items moved from our tiny house down the street (that will soon become a rental). I am basically excited, overwhelmed, astonished that we are really making this happen.

And we are all exhausted. Miles to go before I sleep and all that.

exhausted Lucy

exhausted Lucy, exhausted chair

But mainly I am excited.

I regret not visiting your Dallas home. Your mother invited us to ride back with her and take a look before it’s too late. I love her spontaneity but not such a good time to leave the area. The harvest has begun. (and I imagine you and John are swamped with things to do.) I hope to see the new house, when you get settled (if you ever have time). You are a busy woman and an inspiration to us all. I love well worn leather chairs!

Personally, I love the “distressed” look of the leather chair. Lucy doesn’t seem to mind it, either. 😉

Wish you could come over to Searcy Saturday and get hugs from all the Arkansas writers that would be so glad to see you! I have heard of ‘traveling mercies’ and surely there are ‘moving mercies’ we will ask for you and John.

I wish so too. Maybe next year since I’ll be much closer!

Glad you are home, I feel the cumulative Arkansas IQ sliding up a couple points. Good blog, can’t wait for book.
