Yip Yips

November 17, 2012 By Talya Tate Boerner 7 Comments

I grew up watching Sesame Street. And I thought the Yip Yips were hilarious.

At 1:25 a.m. this morning, not so much. Lucy and Annabelle turned into Yip Yips–the yip yip yipping was woof woof woofing. Low, guttural, not a true bark.

In our Fayetteville bedroom, the entire wall is window. Forest sounds surround us. Lucy and Annabelle see everything with nocturnal razor-sharp eyesight. And, nothing gets past the floppy ears.
One little schnauzer head popped up from underneath the covers, floppy little ears like yip yip antennae in the dark. Woof woof woof. Then the other little schnauzer head joined in, floppy yip yip ears illuminated in the room. Woof woof woof yip yip yip…
Of course now, at 7:00 a.m., the yip yips are sleeping soundly.
