Book Reviews: April 2018:

Happy May Day! I’m not sure what happened to April, but here we are. I didn’t read as many books as I planned. Sometimes that happens. One thing about April—I set out to read more memoirs. I love memoir and for whatever reason, I haven’t read many lately. In addition to three memoirs, I read a best-selling work of fiction (Oprah stamped it with her seal) and a classic literary ecological work.

Question: Do you typically agree or disagree with Oprah’s book recommendations? Just curious. (I sure wouldn’t turn down an Oprah book club stamp on my book…)

Book Reviews: March 2018

Sorry for the delay in posting my book reviews for March 2018. I don’t want to moan about the reason, so I won’t. Moaning would take away from the fabulousness of these books.

I’m always surprised when I go back and review the books I read during a particular month, because it seems no matter how different they may be in genre, setting, or plot line, I can typically find similar themes. For March, the theme of all seven books I read involved a journey for survival.  Interesting how that happens.

the thinks in my brain and planting Truffula seeds

The thinks in my brain? They float and flit and maybe end up on a blog page. Maybe they’ll end up in a book someday. Maybe they’ll simply disappear beneath the worm moon going nowhere at all.

My makeshift greenhouse. It doesn’t look like much yet, only a bright window in the garage. Impossibly small seeds sprinkled into soil, watered with a dribble, fussed over, talked to as though I’m “in charge of the last of the Truffula seeds.
And Truffula trees are what everyone needs.”
