I’ve been thinking about beauty in the decay and decided to jot down my thoughts and share them with you. This is the time of year some flowers begin looking sad, all shriveled up and tired to the roots. Certain perennial varieties, like blooding heart, die back altogether. This is all part of the process. And it isn’t a bad thing.

Hello, Sunday Letter friends! September is here.
Goodness. Weren’t we celebrating Memorial Day ten minutes ago? And now, Labor Day is here to close out another summer.
Did I do all the things on my summer bucket list? Probably not. (I can’t even remember what those things were.)
Our family recently spent a fabulous week together at Lake Norfork. Bravo for unseasonably cool weather and family traditions. Lake time is always good for my soul; even more so when my kids are there and the air is not stifling.
Sunday Letter: 09.05.21
Dear Sunday Letter friends,
September is here, and I’m glad about it. I look forward to harvest time on the farm, the promise of cooler temperatures and turning leaves, twisty-stemmed pumpkins, and, yay, college football. With my favorite holidays waiting on the horizon so close we begin to count down—oh yeah, I’m a happy camper.
Of course, we still have a few days of summer left, but once school starts back it’s as though a switch flips in my mind. My focus turns from vacation and roasted marshmallows to tailgates and chili.
And even during a week of 90° temperatures, there’s already a touch of fall in the air.Continue Reading
