Savoring January

January 31, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Savoring January 2017

Did you blink? Today is the last day of January! I’ve done my best throughout January to savor the moments. You may or may not know I chose SAVOR as my One Little Word for 2017. And dangnabbit I plan to do it, even amid all the chaos surrounding us. The photo above depicts my visual effort to savor the month—one picture taken each day in January.

Savor—to taste, smell, relish, delight in. Doing something slowly.

Savoring FLAVOR…

I’ll start with food because that’s the first thing I imagine when I think of savoring something. In January, I cooked at home, a lot. And I came up with several new recipes including an easy cauliflower soup I’m pretty excited about. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll share the recipe on a later post. Roasted Sweet Potato and Broccoli

January 9, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Roasted Sweet Potato and BroccoliThis roasted sweet potato and broccoli is oh so much more than roasted sweet potato and broccoli. It’s step one in my quest to cook a new dish every week during 2017. Yay me. Celebrate the little things, y’all, because little things add up to big things and big things change everything all around.Continue Reading

Christmas Spirit - make it last all year

Happy Twelfth Day of Christmas! Today is that day—the twelve drummers drumming day. The day the Magi arrived in Bethlehem long, long ago. Epiphany Eve, Twelfth Night, this is a day with a multitude of names and rich in history. And no matter how you frame it, for many of us, today marks the official end of the Christmas season.

Say it ain’t so.

Okay, I know many of you tossed your tree and packed the ornaments days ago. I get it. I took my tree down just after Christmas this year because it was as dry as a Texas tumbleweed. Even so, just because we pack away Christmas doesn’t mean we have to pack away our Christmas Spirit. There are a few simple ways to make the season last all year.

Twelve ways. For the twelve days of Christmas.
See what I did?Continue Reading
