Yesterday I made a spicy pulled pork based on Ree Drummond’s (The Pioneer Woman’s) recipe. I give her all the credit. I haven’t changed any of her ingredients because there’s no reason to tamper with the best pulled pork recipe in all the land. The only thing I do differently is I don’t use a food processor. Instead, I dice the onion and hand mix all the ingredients. I like to have pieces of onion in the mix. Plus, I don’t own a food processor. Crazy, I know.
Here’s a LINK to The Pioneer Woman’s recipe. Go check it out. She has beautiful pictures and step-by-step instructions.
Now on to football. John and I will be at the Razorback game today. And wooo pig, the weather should be nice. (The first game was hot!) Will the Hogs remember to show up? Please, yes. They play Texas Tech—love those old Southwest Conference rivalries. I’ll be secretly scouting the Red Raiders for next week’s Baylor Bear game. (So Briles, call me.)
Supporting two teams is a good thing for spreading sadness when those losses happen, and they always do at some point. Unless you happen to be Ohio State.
I took the picture (below) during the UTEP game two weeks ago. The new meme at Arkansas is Uncommon. We are Uncommon. The state, the school, the football team, the Razorback experience. I think that’s true. Arkansas—the school and the state—is unique.
Who else says Wooo Pig?
So let me tie what may seem a disjointed post into a nice red bow… The pulled pork recipe is uncommon. The Razorbacks are uncommon. Razorbacks are hogs. Hogs = pork. Is it uncommon to eat your mascot?
Not for uncommon folk.
Happy Saturday.

Interesting that Texas also has a taste for their mascot. BEVO would make some fine brisket.

Will try that pork–oh,do I love shredded pork! I use Emeril’s recipe at present, but don’t think he’ll mind if I have a fling with another recipe! Thanks for sharing.

That pork looked awesome, but the hogs didn’t do so well. I hate that! Is that a good reason to eat our mascot! You made me laugh with this post.
