Oh my goodness! Today is Gene, Everywhere cover reveal day. If books were babies, this would be the gender reveal party— minus the balloons and cake. Of course, if you have balloons and cake, please, please, break them out.

I was planning to do my cover reveal next week, but I couldn’t wait another day. See? Now that I’m the boss of my book, I can change plans on the fly.

Plus, we aren’t getting any younger. And March 10 is getting closer and closer.

March 10 is my official release date, y’all!

This is the first official cover from One Mississippi Press, and I’m so happy with it.

Here’s the full design—front, back and spine. I may still tweak a word or two on the back, but for the most part, this is it!

Lucy hopes you love Gene, Everywhere as much as she enjoys starring in it. Lucy and Gene had a special relationship, certainly proving to me that pets can greatly enhance the well-being of the elderly.

What’s Gene, Everywhere about?

When people ask me what Gene, Everywhere is about, I say it’s about taking care of aging parents and coping with your own mid-life truths. You know, things like the empty nest, job burnout, disappearing eyebrows, what to cook for supper again… The story takes place during the six weeks my father-in-law stayed with us in Dallas.

Author Dorene O’Brien says it best.

While often grounded in things—a red sweatshirt, a jigsaw puzzle, a toothpick, 72 ceiling tiles—at its heart this work is about people in their maddening, clumsy, confounding, and ultimately triumphant attempts to connect and enrich each other’s lives.

The truth is, Gene is the entire reason I began writing.

He certainly enriched my life. I believe he’ll enrich yours too.

  11. I am so excited to read this book. I know it will touch and change my life. I cared for my Mama and Daddy during their last days on earth and what an honor it was. Im proud of you and the courage and persistence you’ve shown during this journey of writing. Ive always looked up to you as my older cousin ?. You always knew what to tell me and Staci to do. Lol. Ill never forget the service at church camp. I was so convicted to ask Jesus in my heart and walk the isle. I stood there crying, frozen at my seat. Then you walked up to the front and I followed.   15. I can’t wait as I loved Gracie Lee and have been anxiously awaiting Book 2. Just added to my Goodreads want to read. As much as I dislike reading on my kindle I may not be able to wait until March!!
