Eureka Springs to Dallas.

Eureka Springs to Dallas

Eureka Springs to Dallas may sound like a railroad line, but it’s the most recent route on my book signing adventure. Yesterday, I drove it without benefit of a dining car. Just a quick post to let you know I’m alive and well and waking up in North Texas this morning. I had a blast on Sunday at Books in Bloom in Eureka Springs. I was a speaker at the event, which was a fun thing for me. A few folks even told me, “I only came to hear what you have to say.”

Gulp.
Really?
Yikes.

It all worked out because I chatted about what I think and know and believe to be true about writing. Although my experience is new and very limited, it’s fresh on mind, that’s for sure. There were other author-speakers who’ve written a jillion books. I can’t imagine. I would have liked to sit at their feet and hear their secrets, but I had a booth to man.

Books in Bloom!

Several ladies asked about my green sweater. It’s a fact, I love polka dots. This sweater is from Talbots, and I bought it at the Northwest Arkansas Mall. I didn’t realize it at the time, but apparently it was one of Oprah’s Favorite Things. (There’s an Oprah tag in the back where one would normally find a Talbots tag…) Wouldn’t it be nice if my book became one of Oprah’s favorite things? Seems only fair. Tit for tat and all.

But back to Books in Bloom.

It.Was.Fun. Think about it—Books and Blooms. Two of my absolute favorite things on planet Earth.

Books in Bloom - a great literary venue

Tonight is my book signing in Dallas. This is significant for me because Dallas is my other home town, the place of so many memories. And the Barnes & Noble across from Northpark Mall (technically Lincoln Park) is my Barnes & Noble.

Over the years, how many books have I bought there?
How many midnight Harry Potter launch parties have I attended?
How many footprints have I left there?

The answer to all of these questions…so, so many.

Yes, it will probably be raining. Maybe even storming. Apparently this is the year of the thunderstorm. If you live in North Texas, come on out. Other than the Wicked Witch of the West, a little water never hurt anyone.

And she so deserved it.

Your Fan Club from Post is coming!! Can’t wait. Do you think I should call Oprah? Gracie needs to be on her list, for sure. Anyone out there have Oprah’s address?
