because every author needs a special book signing pen!

special book signing pen

Look what I got for Christmas! Santa (John) was good to me.

Before Christmas, I looked for an interesting pen at the New York Public Library gift shop. I wanted a special pen, one specifically to be used at book signings. I didn’t buy anything (although the shop was very cool). And can I just say, the New York Public Library is GORGEOUS. Built in 1911, it’s a research library only. Books can be checked out the branch library just across the street. And by street, I mean 5th Avenue.

I would love to go back and spend several days at this library. There’s much to see and do.

But for now, a few pics…

New York Public Library

I got off on a library tangent, so back to my pen. It was designed by Michael Graves for ACME Studio. This little jewel is so perfect for me. Let me count the ways.

One. The color is my favorite. I love all shades of teal, turquoise, blue and green.

Two. My pen design has a name. Leaf. How perfect is that?

Three. It feels good in my hand. Know what I mean?

Four. It comes with a virtue—a new printing trick. I believe this refers to the way the leaf design is printed on the pen, but still, a pen with a virtue!

Five. Leaf is stunning. Every author should have a special pen. Am I right?

my new Acme pen - perfect for book signings!

What would Gracie Lee do?
She would practice her handwriting.

acme pen - because every author should have a stunning pen!

So.

When you receive your copy of The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee (soon!), this is the pen I will have used to sign it.

Leaf will also be traveling with me to book signings ??? so you’ll get to meet him.

That’s something! John did good! I hope you have a backup for all of those books you will no doubt be signing.

Love it. The idea of signing your book must feel heady. Too cool.

I also have an ACME Writing Instrument. I got the Blueprint design. Well, ‘got’ as in it was given to me as a gift. 🙂 (You can see it here.)

I know exactly what you mean about the ‘feel’ of it in your hand. Unfortunately, mine has come apart! I need to find someone who can fix it.

Gary, ACME has a refurbishing service. You should contact them.

The “feel” of a nice pen is as important as the “feel” of a beautiful porcelain coffee cup each morning.

Your pen is just beautiful. The color is perfect for you. “You’ll get to meet him”? I believe Leaf is a lady, not a “him”

Hi Tayla, I just started following you during Christmas break. Are you having a book signing anywhere in Fayetteville?
