Lazy Sunday Brownie Sundaes

September 21, 2015 By Talya Tate Boerner 10 Comments

brownie, ice cream, butterscotch sauce

Sunday morning, rain is falling… That’s how it started, a slow, steady rain matching our downhearted moods and providing comfort for those of us mourning the ridiculous Razorback loss. The rain turned to drizzle and ended rather quickly, much like the game. The skies remained gray, the day cool. What’s more idyllic than a rainy, unhurried Sunday? We lazed around the house (is lazed a word?), had a late lunch with family, napped and read and read and napped. We watched the end of the Cowboy game, which proved to be the unhappiest 2 and 0 season start ever. A bad football weekend calls for chocolate. To be specific, brownies. To be more specific, Lazy Sunday Brownie Sundaes.

But first, can we talk more about the weather? One thing I love about our house is the attic fan. With Sunday temperatures never climbing out of the 60s, we opened the doors and enjoyed the wonderful breeze circulating through the house.

I wore a sweater all day ❣

In the afternoon, I snapped a few pictures in the garden, thinking the still-blooming flowers will soon be gone. Last daylily of the year? Could be.

And this monarch has been hanging out in the milkweed. I finally got a good picture.

Now about the lazy Sunday brownie sundaes…

I made Betty Crocker fudge brownies straight from a box because, to be honest, her brownies are pretty perfect. Betty’s good at providing a no fuss, football-mourning, chocolate fix. Topped with Yarnell’s homemade vanilla and a drizzle of butterscotch topping, it’s what a call a lazy sundae Sunday.

Days like these, perfect.

P.S. I discovered Yarnell’s recently (we still have no Blue Bell in these parts). Yarnell’s is made in Arkansas! Bonus.

Give me dark chocolate brownies with toasted walnuts! My football mounting needs some serious therapy. Gorgeous photos. I’m making your rice pudding for THV Tuesday. Thx

Okay, now I have to bake brownies (I have the ice cream and drizzle). I’m not a huge football fan, but you’re my friend and I’ll share your pain and support your coping skills.

You know what I’ve been meaning to try? Somehow infusing coffee into the brownie mix. I love the taste of coffee and chocolate. So if you ever get the urge to do that, let me know, and I’ll just copy your recipe. 🙂

That looks delish! Since I don’t have brownie mix, or ice cream, or any kind of drizzle, I ate another piece of Staci and Donna’s birthday cake, Pineapple Sunshine Cake. It gets better & better as the days go by.

Sounds good. Does it have Cool Whip in it?

I was sad about the hogs, too. My favorite brownies are Ghirardelli Triple Fudge, and I grew up on Yarnell’s Ice Cream. We always had a half gallon of Vanilla in our freezer.
