Simple Pleasures #3

October 12, 2014 By Talya Tate Boerner

This was a week filled with friends, new and old, including my first overnight guest.

I made a trip to Sharum Gardens with my sister-in-law. Pumpkins were buy one get one free. Pansies were $10/flat. Is there a happier flower? I don’t think so.

Pansies - Simple Pleasure

I finally made it to Rick’s Bakery on College. Omgoodness yum. Cookies = simple pleasure.

I spent the weekend in Eureka Springsโ€”the quietย drive from Fayetteville was a simple pleasure.ย  Stunning landscape. Hillsides covered with grasses and flowers, the names I don’t know. Old barns. Hay bales. Cows and horses. Country churches and family cemeteries.ย I’m still pinching myself that I actually get to live in Northwest Arkansas.

I also wanderedย intoย a great organic marketย in Eureka and bought a huge cup of freshly roasted coffee on a drizzly morning. A simple pleasure indeed.

So good you are really feeling at home though I know many in Dallas miss you and your family. Sometimes one can actually “go home again”. Happy for you. I rarely have much to do with other authors/writers but do have a couple of really good friends who are. You definitely have talent and appreciation on how to use that talent. Regards, Jeanette Crumpler

Easy-as-Sunday-morning post and very much enjoyed. The drive in Eureka Springs should start blazing with Fall color by now. It was really nice seeing you again at the Writer’s Colony. Welcome home!

I don’t know if the OCW counted as a simple pleasure with all the lectures but sharing it with you made it fun and special and I found two new favorite places to eat there. What can be better than finding good food?!

It wasn’t what I consider a simple pleasure, but it was certainly fun! Yes, good food = simple pleasure.
