A Pet Tribute

February 20, 2014 By Talya Tate Boerner

The death of a pet is one of the most heartbreaking things. The pain is raw and real. It will knock you to your knees.

Recently several of my friends experienced the devastating death of their pets. It seemed every few days another beloved pet had died. The Facebook comments and condolences piled up for each because everyone could relate. We’ve all been there. Pets are so easy to love and incredibly painful to lose. They fill an empty space we didn’t know we had.

But this isn’t meant to be a sad post.

This is a tribute to all those pets we loveโ€”yesterday, today and forever. And since today is National Love Your Pet Day, I thought I’d post pictures of my friends’ special pets who are missed so much…

Here I wait, for my friend whoโ€™s late. I will stay, just to walk beside you for one more day.โ€

My sweet cat Rudy is our first child together. He is the most amazing little guy and I love him dearly.

Oh my, you’re going to make me cry! I don’t even want to imagine the day that something happens to my little Sophernugget! She is and always will be my little baby. Pets don’t live long enough if you ask me, it’s so cruel:(

I agree! I hate to think about that too with my two schnauzers…

Awwwww. Thanks Colene. Mine were Honey Bee, Boots, Demon, Pepe, Susie, Nat, Andy, Toby, Butkus, Joker, Belle and too many farm cats to mention. Although most of the cats were named Sam:)

Gremlin, Taz (Tasmanian Devil), Matt(hew) and Lucy were my four cats, whom I miss every single day. Some more than others.

Losing a fur baby is never fun. My heart goes out to them.

My cat, Benny, saw me through a long recuperation when I was chair-bound. Mr. Personality! His life was way to short, but he lived every minute of it with cat joy! My friends, Don and Donna, just said goodbye to Sally, a black Lab. She’d hobble out to see you if she heard your voice, even when she could barely walk. I feel sad for them, yet she gave them so many good times that they’ll remember.
