W is for Workout

April 26, 2013 By Talya Tate Boerner 19 Comments

My gym overlooks the trees surrounding beautiful White Rock Lake, a view which makes time on the elliptical machine more palatable.
Sweating, feeling my legs and arms push and pull the weights, I feel good, alive. Yet while I huff and puff,  I watch the Food Network, seemingly mutually exclusive activities.

Tuesday, Giada baked an amazing cheesy farro. Farro? I had never even heard of a farro until my workout. And her strawberry ricotta dessert mousse….ummmm I could taste it!

Exercising while watching Paula Deen fry butter and whip up creamed corn with bacon lard should melt triple the calories. Don’t y’all think?

What a funny description of working out and watching the Food Network. You have more restraint than I do. Desserts are my downfall, especially chocolate. The idea of creamed corn with bacon lard doesn’t sound all that appealing though. BLEK!

Haha – I don’t know if it’s such a good idea to combine the two activities! But good for you! I do like the Food Channel though (and exercise for that matter…)

Wow!!! You’ve got some kind of will-power going there for you, Talya!=) But, like Bon Jovi, says, “It’s my life” and you’re definitely doing your way! I don’t think I’ve got quite the restraint you do when it comes to food.=) Maybe through working out and watching food, you’ve got some sort of “Feng Shui” thingamabob thing that is working there for you, I don’t know. And also, looking at the awesome pic, I could of sworn that was you until I saw it was a Free Stock Photo pic! Anyhow, cool pic, and also, I never noticed how much a closed fist looks so much like a profile of E.T.’s head. Weird, huh?=)

A good view makes working out so much better! Watching Food Network takes some serious willpower, so it should definitely count as more calories burned! 🙂

I know a woman who got her husband to hook up the treadmill so that the TV wouldn’t operate unless someone was walking on the treadmill.

They both got in pretty good shape. 🙂

Oh my. What a cute post. What a great view. I’m not sure about the fried butter. Oh my goodness.

I’d keep up the workout but dump the food channel.

Loved this! I always watch Food Network while I exercise, Talya. And I watched that same episode with Giada and her Farrrrrrro. I couldn’t help but admire the way she pronnouced this cheese stuffed delight. I huff and I puff through my work out too, but I feel so good afterwards and love the feeling of sore muscles. Take care!

I wish they’d show the food network at my gym – they’re always blasting their ghastly music.

Exotic food, exercise and TV–three of my least favorite things, but I love Talya, hence I accept her delights. And her writing. Bravo!
