Today marks the last day of August which means book reviews for you. In this group of August reads, I found two new-to-me authors that I’m adding to my list of all-time favorites.
I read tales of historical war-time fiction, a classic barnyard fable, shenanigans set in a Louisiana swamp, a weighty tragedy in a Swedish hockey town. Such a rich collection here!
In no particular order…
July 2018 Book Reviews: This month in particular (it seems), I started several books I didn’t finish. I never review books I don’t finish. The books I do review have something to offer the reader even when I may not give each of them glowing five stars.
What makes me not finish a book? I recently quit one because by page 20 there were already soooo many characters (all with silly names), and I couldn’t keep them straight. The other was a biography written by a popular actress. Right off, I just didn’t connect. I have too many potentially great books stacked on my nightstand, piled on my bookcase, queued in my Audible list, downloaded electronically calling from my Kindle app.

I can’t believe June is over! I did lots of traveling in June which means a couple of these books were audio versions. Also, I went to the lake. I always read 2-3 books (sometimes 4) at the lake. Did you watch The Great American Read a few weeks ago on PBS? Because of that fantastic show, I am determined to read more of the 100 most recommended books on the PBS list (i.e. A Confederacy of Dunces).Continue Reading
