Garden Surprises in Spring

Garden Surprises

This spring, so many garden surprises have entertained me. Almost every day something reveals itself. Something unexpected, curious, even unusual.

It helps that I spend a crazy amount of time poking around outside. (The more time one spends with any activity, the more accessible and intimate the parts of that activity become.) Each inch of soil surrounding our home is habitat for fungi, bacteria, insects, tiny burrowing creatures and organisms. Healthy soil supports plant growth by anchoring and insulating roots, filtering water, holding oxygen, and supplying nutrients.  While soil provides life, it certainly enhances mine.

Sunday Letter

Hello Sunday Letter friends,

I have figured something out about coronavirus. Not only does a world with coronavirus make time pass at lightning speed—I mean, it’s already the middle of MAY—but it also makes my arms flabby.

Sunday Letter Time…

Dear Sunday Letter friends,

For me, time is flying by.  Because my world has narrowed and every day looks and feels the same, there is nothing all that significant happening to mark time. In this case, with nothing notable to distinguish one day from another, the weeks disappear quickly.

Those who are busy juggling the tasks of teaching kids at home while working remotely may feel the opposite, like time is dragging.

Anyway, I thought it provided good insight into the perception of time. How has time been passing for you?Continue Reading
