September Sunday Letter

Hello friends! I’m baaaack with a September Sunday Letter.

Can you believe September is here? Even though the afternoons are still HOT and HUMID, I find relief in knowing the calendar has flipped from August.

Since I was a kid I always considered September to be the beginning of change because it was back to school time. Now, even though I no longer attend school, I still see September the same way. (Living in a college town helps reinforces this viewpoint too.)  Change of season, change of attitude, change in the colors outside my kitchen window.

Despite the way we often cling to the familiar, change can be a very good thing. And, sometimes the smallest changes make the biggest impact.

Sunday Letter: 07.31.22

Sunday Letter

Dear Sunday Letter readers,

Praise be! In the past few days we’ve experienced a reprieve from this summer’s horribly hot and dry weather. Yes, finally, much-needed rain moved across the state; the rumble of thunder has never been so welcome to my ears.

This morning, there’s a chance for more rain.

Not gonna lie—the past week two weeks have been extra tough. No matter how much water we gave our plants, many remained parched and stressed. It had become so dry and hot the tree frogs had stopped singing at night. And we humans pretending to be in charge of things? The balance of our good humor had long evaporated with summer’s dew.

One decent rain sure makes all the difference.

I hope you’ve had a productive week of harvesting, gardening, reading, working, traveling, cooking, playing—all those things you do.
