autumn fade

November 30, 2012 By Talya Tate Boerner

autumn fade - soon it will be christmasโ€ฆ
Autumn disappears.
While I sit at my desk writing and thinking,
brilliant fadesย to brown.
Russet leaves, once aflame,
float to the sidewalks one by one
like words on the page.
Dry, piled underfoot, leavesย crunch as I walk.
Bare branches reveal giant squirrel nests
and clumps of mistletoeโ€”hidden there the whole time.
Frosty mornings and cold nights.
Another Arkansas full moon.
Soon it will be Christmas.

East Dallas Vintage

November 29, 2012 By Talya Tate Boerner

East Dallas Vintage is one of my favorite Facebook pages. This page is the creation of my friend, Marcia Phillips. Marcia, an East Dallas native, has a passion for Dallas history and all things antique, with an eye for the unusual.
Her page is a great source for vintage finds, local shopping, cooking and chaos (her words).
Follow her historic Munger Place home renovation with inspiring before, during and after pictures.
She’s an amazing crafter and cook too!

Reflections on Drug Withdrawal

November 28, 2012 By Talya Tate Boerner

Drug.Withdrawal.Is.The.Pits…

for several days, a throbbing pain permeates the space where my brain once lived
i consume gallons of strong black coffee
a temporary solution leaving my stomach queasy
 dizzy
 hopeless
 agitated

the migraine prevention pill I’ve taken every day for fifteen years is somehow impossible for the fayetteville target pharmacy to locate.

the migraine prevention pill that comes with the warning Do not stop taking suddenly for risk of seizures or death

the migraine prevention pill i ran out of on thanksgiving day

that one

last night i dreamed huge splinters were under the skin around my mouth
crazy
psychotic dream
maybe i had this dream because yesterday i spent thirty minutes pulling stickers from annabelle’s beard
maybe because i was grinding my teeth
maybe because insanity is taking hold
