Gone to Mississippi

Last Tuesday, I drove from Fayetteville, Arkansas to Vicksburg, Mississippi. Even though the trip is 400 miles one way, it’s not a bad drive, not while listening to a mesmerizing audio book and watching farmland pass in all directions. I’ll admit the drizzle from Little Rock onward made it not so fun. You know how annoying almost-rain can be, the sort that makes for constant wiper speed adjustment with an occasional blast of the defroster to clear the foggy windshield.

my Fall Essentials

This is the time of year I wish I could lasso the sun and slowwww time. These precious few autumn days speed by much too quickly, don’t they? Technically each season comes with the same amount of days—about ninety—but fall always gets squeezed on the front-end by a summer who overstays her welcome and on the back-end by the first hard freeze that finishes off the leaves and whatever blooms still hang on the vine.

Before winter comes, let’s talk about fall essentials. Those fall things that make us cozy inside. We probably have a few different things on our lists, but I bet lots of our fall essentials overlap.

SUNDAY LETTER 10.07.18

Dear Sunday Letter friends,

Oh, what a week! This past week has been filled with great news, I got things done, and spent lots of time with friends. I reached a milestone, too. For the first time ever, I got the senior discount. LOL. Some folks may be upset by the idea of qualifying for a senior discount, but I like saving five bucks for being fifty-five +.

The week brought a big dose of culture in the form of two live performances in two nights. I saw Clybourne Park (a University of Arkansas Theatre production) and Jersey Boys (Walton Arts Center).
