Hey Northwest Arkansas! Our Little Free Library is stocked with great summer reads. Yesterday, John and I spent some time browsing (and buying) at Trolley Line Bookshop in Rogers, Arkansas. Trolley Line is a great little bookstore filled with so many treasures. And, since we were on a roll, we hit Dickson Street Books in Fayetteville on the way home.
So what makes a great summer read?
Brevity bordering on frivolity? Or something you can sink your heels into while you soak up the sun at the beach?
I think the only requirement is that you lose yourself within the pages.
For our Little Free Library Summer Reads, I chose books related to summer and the sea. Note how almost every book cover is the color of the ocean… Coincidence? I think not.
School’s been out several weeks. Have you already heard, “There’s nothing to do!” If so, ride-walk-bike over to our Little Free Library. We gotcha covered with some hot fun in the summertime.
And bonus…soon our library will be surrounded by a sea of blooming black-eyed Susans!

Years ago I saw a little sign in a bed of Black-eyed Susans that I’ve always wanted to replicate: “He loved his black eyed Susan, but now his love is dead, since he found a Bachelor’s Button in Black-eyed Susan’s bed.”
Your little library is wonderful!

A Donald Harington in your Little Free Library! Lucky finder/reader…
Soft spot ever and always for Arkansas Literacy Council. The event we opened the restaurant at Dairy Hollow (now the dining room of the Writers’ Colony) with was a benefit for ALC. The speakers: Dale Bumpers and Hillary Clinton. My mother flew in from New York to be part of it.
Long ago and far away.
I think the literary-referenced cocktail names are hilarious.

Nice assortment of ‘good reads’. My Black-eyed Susans are about ready to pop open too.
