Book Update. Woop!

November 16, 2015 By Talya Tate Boerner

The Accidental Salvation of Gracie - Book Signing Coming soon!I have another book update for you! This is such an unbelievable time, and I hope you’re getting excited about it, too, because I truly believe those of you who support my writing have helped to make this happen. Seriously.

So here’s what’s going on with The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee…

Book Signing(s)– I have my first official book signing (which will also be a party!) scheduled at That Bookstore in Blytheville. I’m not kidding when I say this is something that’s been at the top of my bucket list for my entire adult life. More coming on this soon (like firmed-up date announcement), and I’m thinking/planning other signing venues. Tell me about your favorite indie bookstore, local library, gardening club, book club, writing group, church group, favorite place on Earth? Maybe I’ll be able to visit and do a reading.

Book Cover – Yes! We are getting closer to having a cover. I’m working with an illustrator who is so nice and patient with me (and might think I’m slightly picky/crazy).  When you’ve been thinking about something for so long, you want the picture in your head to be reflected on the cover. Raise your hand if you do sometimes choose a book by the cover? Thought so.

Twitter Launch Party – Twitter parties are a hoot and I’m planning one. I know lots of my readers aren’t on Twitter, but maybe you’ll think about joining in for the fun? It’s easy and free and there will be prizes.

December Instagram Fun – Ditto above. If you aren’t on Instagram, consider signing up (especially if you enjoy taking pictures). Instagram is one of my favorite social media platforms and if you aren’t on it, you’re missing out. Again, prizes.

Last night I had a great time at Nightbird Books’ Open Mic Night. I read a portion of a chapter from my book to a packed, receptive audience. Everyone laughed at all the appropriate places, and afterward, so many people wanted to know more about Gracie Lee and the book release. Validation is an exhilarating thing.

I’m sure I’ll have lots more news soon because I’m meeting with two of my favorite, most fun and creative friends tonight—they don’t know it, but I’ve designated them as head of the Gracie Lee Fan Club which means they’ve been appointed as book launch team members.?

Oh, I am getting so excited. Can’t wait. I am not on Instagram or Twitter, but maybe I could learn. I met two young ladies Saturday night that were amazed that I was on FB and that I had an iPad. Lol. So anxious to meet Gracie Lee.

Congratulations Talya! I am not surprised that you will be having your first book signing at That Bookstore in Blytheville. When you asked in a previous blog, what is your favorite independent bookstore, I almost said “That Bookstore in Blytheville”, although I have never been there. Your description of it has always been so real. Happy book signing(s). I am so looking forward to owning your (signed) book.

Jo Ann – Nightbird has an open mic once a month. It was my first time to go and I wasn’t sure what it would be like. I loved it and will definitely be returning. When I have my own official event, you’ll for sure know about it!

Great – I’m on your list, Gurl!

Unless I can’t get the danged “Knock 3 times, on the ceiling…..” outa my mind – THEN you’re busted! 🙂

Will you have an event at Nightbird when your book comes out? I should think/hope so!
