Lucy and Annabelle go to the library. The Little Free Library, that is. We have a handful in our neighborhood, and since we go for several walks each day, we often drop books off when library inventory is low. Spreading the love, that’s what we’re doing. Thanks to donations from our friends, we have lots of books to share with other neighborhood libraries.
Lucy and Annabelle prefer books about animals, especially dogs. The Poky Little Puppy is a favorite. Take it from a poky little schnauzer (Lucy), reading is fun.
Books contain answers to life’s most mysterious things. Like cats!
Check out this newly built Little Free Library around the corner from us. The style matches the house which makes it even more cool.
After adding a few books to this library, it’s time to head home…

Did you know?
The Poky Little Puppy, published in 1942, was one of the first twelve Little Golden Books. The idea behind Little Golden Books was to make books available to regular families (much like the Little Free Library). The first twelve books were priced at a quarter each, and 1.5 million copies were printed in the first six months. The book was written by Janette Sebring Lowrey and illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren. The author received no royalties. Boo to that! (Slate)

P.S. Having our own Little Free Library attracts more people to our sidewalk. Lucy and Annabelle keep busy watching (barking) from the porch.
