Last night, sleep was difficult. The wild sounds of nature filled our little cottage. Not sure what exactly – tree frogs, crickets, birds, owls, werewolves…. With only a flimsy screen door separating me from unseen critters, I pretended to be camping, in style…
I imagine the sounds to be those of the late night zoo. Or the deep jungle plus exuberant schnauzers minus howler monkeys.
No air conditioner noise, no traffic, no sirens or airplanes, no sounds of Dallas. Only nature. The twinkle of stars. The rustle of leaves turning.
Lucy and Annabelle were wide-eyed and excited. In and out, in and out. Up and down off the bed.
The moon, almost full, cast shadows to go with the sounds. A grain moon or sturgeon moon according to Farmer’s Almanac. Stirring the dirt and crops, rousing the nocturnal creatures a bit more? The trees were luminous.
I thought of family and friends. Each resting under a different roof. Across the country or across town, but under the same sky. Same moon.

It suddenly struck me, that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small. – Neil Armstrong

This is so eerie! I made a picture of the full moon last night, wrote a little something about Neil Armstrong, and tried to post it on FB. I tried about three times and it wouldn’t go. Anyway, enjoyed this. Did you have any bats flying around? theBAT
(I am going to try and post my picture from last night.)

haha…Apparently, great minds do think alike; you, your Mom, and almost, me!…I like full moons, the celestial kind, that is, because as a night owl, vampire, or whatever, its cool to be able to go out at night and be able to see. It was pretty cloudy last night with the clouds blowing up from Isaac in the gulf, but the full moon was still visible as it emitted a huge luminescent ring around itself and over the clouds. I was out on a quick mile walk with my wife, and I almost took a picture with my iPhone…but we were walking and talking, so I got distracted and forgot about the moon pic. Anyway, full moons keep me awake, as well, and I seem to have more energy at night than usual as the huge night-lite in the sky beams down on us.=) At times, I wish there was a long chain hanging down from the moon to my house, or a switch I could use to turn it off; especially on those nights when I can’t sleep!=) Anyhow T, I like your ‘roughing it’ style of camping…haha…and I was thinking…maybe, to settle down your little werewolves, Lucy and Annabelle, tonight, you might ought to put a couple of shots of Silver Bullet liquor in their doggie water dishes.=) That way, you can brag to everyone that you knocked out TWO werewolves with ONE silver bullet…haha…and, Eat your heart out, Nightstalker dude!

Great Moon pictures! You make everything so clear. I can hear and see everything you wrote about. Of course I am a little familiar with the location and surroundings.
