I love Christmas cards. Not only do I enjoy sending and receiving cards, but I like to display them throughout the season. The images are just too pretty to not show off. And my favorite way to display Christmas cardsย involves no crafting whatsoever. If you follow my blog, you may have already guessed my method. It’s the same way I display old photos.
I use vintage flower frogs.
Flower frogs make the perfect stand for displaying Christmas cards, old photos with Santa, and vintage holiday postcards. No hot glue gun required. No rules required either.
Find a place to display your collectionโa shelf, the mantle above your fireplace, create a centerpiece on your dining room table. One frog can hold two or three cards orย photos depending upon size. They can be stacked to create varying heights. For a multi-sided display, place cards and photos on both sides.
Or line them in a simple row. Easy. Basic.
Like the amphibianย variety, flower frogsย come in all shapes, sizes and color. Most are green, silver, gold or bronzeโholiday colors. How appropriate.
Flower frogs can be found at flea markets and yard sales for a few dollars. I recently bought a group of four for $9 on Ebay. Since I use them year-round to display black and white family photos, my purchase isn’t just a seasonal thing which makes it betterย justified in my mind.
Are you aย Christmasย card person? If so, do you display yours?

P.S. You may have noticed I’ve become a bit lax about doing Monday morning Simple Pleasures posts. The thing is, once I decided to make it routine, itย became more chore than simple pleasure. So, most of my simple pleasure photos will be randomly posted on Facebook and/or Instagram. It’s simpler… I hope you will follow along there.

What a cute idea! I love getting Christmas cards or any cards in general really. There’s just something about them ๐
Talya Tate Boerner says
Me too Brittaney. Thank you!

It just isn’t Christmas without cards. I still send them but my list is shorter each year. I don’t get near as many as I used to. I hope it doesn’t become a thing of the past but I think it is less popular with all of the social networking. Your idea of using flower frogs is a great one. Now I just have to find some.
Talya Tate Boerner says
I don’t send that many either. That reminds me, I need your address:)

What a creative idea! I’ve been looking to get some flower frogs for some floral arrangements and now I have another reason to buy some.
Talya Tate Boerner says
They are handy to have around Kristy!

Thanks Patti:)

Growing up we always taped them onto the entertainment center above the TV (closest thing to a mantle we had). We haven’t quite figured out what to do with them here yet. Love Christmas cards!
Talya Tate Boerner says
Seems like we taped them around the doorways. I’ll have to ask my Momma…
Michelle @ Life on the Horizon says
What a cute idea! I had no idea that’s what they were called. I love Christmas cards, but always struggle on how to display them. Thanks for the tips!
Dorothy Johnson says
I love your displays! I don’t send as many cards as I used to, it’s a good way to touch base with people we don’t see on a regular basis. The ones we receive are usually displayed on a tray. I like your idea better.
Talya Tate Boerner says
Thanks friend:)

Your flower frog card holders are genius! Super creative and fun. I am definitely a christmas card sending gal (any type of card and letters really). I usually display mine in a container that I received flowers in that is in the shape of a sleigh. I mix them up as the cards come in. I would love to feature your idea on my blog, if you were willing/interested? It might come as no surprise that I blog about the lost art of letter writing and all things paper. I look forward to hearing from you. Now, off to find a flower frog…
Talya Tate Boerner says
Yes absolutely! I welcome the chance to be featured. Happy flower frog hunting:))

We did tape cards on the door facings. One year while I was in college, I taped the cards to the wall in the den in the shape of a Christmas tree. I have a picture of that somewhere. Of course, I have a picture of “everything” somewhere in the Bat Cave in Arkansas.
Talya Tate Boerner says
Everything happened at Tech:)
Barbara Tate says
I have never had a Flower Frog.
Talya Tate Boerner says
I can give you one.
