I’ve had my share of unfortunate events in the state of Oklahoma. From the Red River to the Arkansas River, a strange cloud hovers over and follows me until I maneuver through my own trail of tears safely back to home base.
During the past six months,
I received a speeding ticket in Atoka,
dined with a prison chain gang in Eufala,
cleaned dog puke in Vian,
idled on the side of the road in mid-Nowhere
when the Lake Eufaula bridge was closed.
when the Lake Eufaula bridge was closed.
B-U-T….
I believe my Oklahoma luck is changing.
(insert wood knocking here)
During my most recent drive back to Dallas, my dashboard was lit with orange warning lights.
Mr. Dallas car dealership man, unaware of my bad Sooner karma, assured me the car was safe to drive home. Even so, I fully expected to be stranded in Stringtown. Amazingly, I made it home without incident. And Even More Exciting, while crossing Lake Eufaula, I thought of a possible name for my book…

Thanks for the kind visit yesterday. I am glad your luck is turning around! Always seems to run in streaks! I see you are from AK, my dad worked and retired from ABF freight up here in NYC. He would travel there a few times and come home to tell us how wonderful the people are there. Enjoy the day!

Thanks Winnie. I love the cards you create. I am your newest Twitter follower:)
and p.s. I’m from Arkansas (AR) not Alaska (AK), that’s what you meant, right? Although I’m sure the Alaskans are wonderful people too:)) T.

Atoka seems to be the place to get a ticket in Oklahoma. My brother got stopped there once and they took his license away on the spot. He only got it back when he paid his fine. I have made that trip more times than I can remember and I miss it!

Yes! Atoka is a speeding trap as are most of those little towns along Highway 69/75. The speed limit goes from 70 to 40 within 100 yards and Barney Fife is watching…The good news, the ticket doesn’t get reported to the state or your insurance because the little towns pocket all of it for themselves:) T.

Any hints about the book and/or the title? I am anxious for the day that I can hold your book in my hand.
