Precious! Absolutely and completely! I heard a piece on NPR about research on dogs anticipating the returns of their owners and how they seem to have a second sense about it. One woman said her sailor son’s dog always seemed to know when he was due home. The day of his arrival, he’d park himself by the door until he came.
You will not believe it! The Pindler fabric shown below is what I just used to recover my dining room chair seats. The design repeat is so large that I ran out of material. On Saturday, I had just ordered two yards from that online store when I saw it on your blog. Dadgum! I wish I had read your blog first! Maybe if I had gone to it from here, you would have gotten some $$. If I order any more, I will do that.

Thank you Dorothy. I think they can hear the sound of the car from blocks away. They know when John is almost home when he is still five minutes from the house. Glad you bought your fabric! Those ads at the bottom of my posts rotate, so it may not have been the same one you needed if you had read it at a different time. T.

Aww I love this picture. The level of servitude our pets have for us is humbling and so sweet! Love my animals!
Talya Tate Boerner says
Thanks Lana. I love your animals too:))

Such a sweet picture, Talya. What do we do to deserve such unconditional love from our dogs!
Talya Tate Boerner says
I know, Corinne, we could all learn a lesson from our pets.

Sniff. This is so touching, Talya. Don’t know what I’d do without my four pets. They keep me company, comfort me when I’m sad, give me such unconditional love and they make me think about something other than myself, too. Love them.

Ahh, just like my golden. When I leave for work, he stares adoringly into my eyes, pleading, ‘don’t go.’ When I return, he’s sleeping right there, on the front door mat, waiting. Our dogs DO love us unconditionally – what a gift.

Awesome photo, Talya, and I have to admit, dogs are my favorite pets. Dogs are like,”Can I be your friend, I wanna be your friend, I’ll be your friend no matter what…watta-ya-say?..huh? huh?…Please be my friend…I’ll love you all my life.”=) Cats are cool, but in my humble opinion, they’ve got this If-you-wanna-pet me-you-gotta-come-over-here attitude.=) So yeah, dogs are my favorite.

My first cat, Gremlin, used to see me off every morning, and then, when I came home from work, there he’d be, sitting in the window of the upstairs bedroom, looking out the window for my car. He’d jump down as soon as I parked and meet me at the door, meowing and (I presume) telling me about his day.
Then one day I came home unexpectedly at noon. No Gremlin in the window. I came in and he did not meet me at the door. A few minutes after I came in, he came down the stairs, yawning, stretching, and meowed at me plaintively. “You woke me up!” is what I took it to mean. Little faker. he wanted me to think he PINED for me all day. He was probably in that window for the time it took me to drive down the hill to get from one end of the apartment complex to the other.
My current cat, Lucy, does start looking for me at a certain time. My housemate tells me, “Lucy’s been looking for you” when I come home later than expected. Cats don’t jump up and down and lick you and want to play ball, but they DO have their own ways of letting you know you were missed.
Or at least your opposable, can-opening thumbs. ๐

Cats are hilarious and oh so cool. I miss my cat, Belle. We got her from the SPCA when Kelsey was about 3. She died the week before Kelsey left for college. Very bad timing for everyone…

Your doggie is so cute – reminds me of the song “how much is that doggie in the window”. Love the song “waiting for a girl like you”.
