In 1970-something when the Osmonds walked onto the stage to a sold out crowd of teenyboppers at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, my sister and I were in the bathroom because Momma had to pee.
Story of our life.
I heard Donny’s introduction over the loudspeaker through the concrete wall behind the toilet stalls. The floor shook.
Hurry Momma!!!!!!!!!!!
Momma and Aunt Lavern endured the concert while my sister, cousin and I stood on our chairs and shrieked, singing the words to every song. On the drive home I plotted how I would marry Donny someday and return to Mississippi County only as a side trip during national concert tours.
Last week, my sister and I channeled Momma and Aunt Lavern at the sold out, estrogen-filled, One Direction concert at American Airlines Center in Dallas. My niece Taylor knew the words to every song while I sang along to the catchy refrains as I could, each song sounding like the one before.
The noise level was deafening.
The smile on Taylor’s face was worth the permanent hearing loss.

Awwwwwww, SWOOOOOOOOOOOOONS! To be a teen girl again. Sigh. I enjoyed listening to their video and aren’t they just the cutest?
Must admit I had a crush on Donny Osmond, too, Talya and used to watch Donny and Marie faithfully each week and I had a DO poster on my wall. I didn’t see him in concert though, lucky you! Swoons!

I had a life sized Donny poster on my closet door for the longest time.

The Osmonds were huge back then! I wan’t a fan, but certainly do remember their tunes, because the radio played them constantly. Ah, teenybopper passions hit every generation – The Monkees were mine. Glad your niece had a good time with hers. That’s a catchy tune and they are cute. ๐

I loved The Monkees too! And David Cassidy:) ha.

My daughter would so envy Taylor. She loves one direction. She is 10 and just getting boy crazy. Thankfully, she has childhood love and has eyes only for him. They have been item since kindergarten. I don’t discourage it. He is a nice young man. They make each other Christmas presents. Sorry for ramblng. I loved the Monkeys when I watched the re-runs in elementary school. I had crushes on Scott Baio from Happy Days. Anyway, so long ago. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Have a good weekend. Off to vacation next week.

I’m telling you, we all need to invest in hearing aid/treatment technology! People are going to be needing it earlier and earlier!
It’s always an eye-opener when we see these things from the grownup side of life! Your mother and aunt were so good to take you girls, and now you and your sis are doing the same thing. Lucky Taylor!

I remember riding my bicycle around Roselawn Drive/Mockingbird Lane listening to Donnie on my new cassette player that I carried in my bike basket. lol “Hey there, lonely girl…” That was me. And Dreammmm Dreammmm Dreammm….and I’d have to get back home before he sung Puppy Love cause I had to be back in my room so I could look at his picture on the back of my bedroom door and stare at the pink shag carpet. lol The highlight of my teen years (though) was seeing ELVIS at the MSC!!!
