Next up in my Summer Favorite Series: ADVENTURE. Summer is the ideal time for adventure, big and small. Kids are out of school (or in my case—grown and gone), days spread out long and warm, nights twinkle with the flicker of lightning bugs. Adventure is tucked behind every tree.
See Where the Day Leads
Some of the best summer adventures are unplanned. Those see-where-the-day-leads adventures. A couple of weeks ago, my friend Becky and I had a mini-adventure in Siloam Springs. She and her husband recently moved there from Jonesboro. (We’ve been friends since elementary school, so I guarantee living this close together once again will be filled with adventure.)
And Siloam? What a cute town!
Main Street Siloam has all sorts of cute shops including antique stores, home decor, clothing, and restaurants. Farmer’s Market kept us entertained for quite some time with produce, flowers, homemade bread and pie, and a cooking demonstration. Pure Joy ice cream is locally made in Siloam Springs and tastes fabulous. Naturally, we couldn’t pass that up. We also made a trip to the Siloam Springs Public Library which is a gorgeous building. (My book is there so if you need a summer read, check out The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee!) #shamelessplug
Lake Days!
Summer adventure for our family always means a trip (or two) to Lake Norfork. There’s no telling how many mini-adventures are wrapped into one day on the lake with our crew. From morning coffee on the porch to late night grilling, every moment is priceless.

My friend, Sarah Shotts, documents her microadventures on YouTube. Check out her adventures HERE and while you’re at it, subscribe to her channel. She’s super creative and inspiring.
I love this summer adventure checklist from Real Simple. How many can you mark off the list by Labor Day?
