Delta Resort & Spa! (McGehee, Ar)

February 25, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Delta Resort and Spa

I’ve been trying to get down to visit the Delta Resort & Spa near McGehee, Arkansas for almost a year. Finally I did! I was invited to visit and speak about my novel, The Accidental Salvation of Gracie Lee, at the resort’s monthly Girls’ Night Out event. And earlier on the same day, I did a reading in town at the McGehee Public Library.

I’ll say right off, the entire town of McGehee, Arkansas—the library patrons and Girls’ Night Out participants—REPRESENTED Southeast Arkansas in a big way. What an enthusiastic group of new Gracie Lee supporters. Thank you!

The resort did not disappoint. I was impressed by this mirage-like resort in the Delta.

(Disclosure: As a guest of the resort, I received complementary hotel accommodations, dinner, drinks, and shooting range privileges. As always, opinions are my own.)

Lucy and Annabelle go to Collier Drug

February 11, 2017 By Talya Tate Boerner

Lucy and annabelle go to Collier DrugYesterday, Lucy and Annabelle bounded right on in to Collier Drug and were greeted like the stars they think they are. If you live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, you probably already know how wonderful Collier Drug is. And if you don’t, you absolutely should. Collier is a once-upon-a-time drugstore, a dying breed in this world of soul sucking chain stores. Family-owned and independent—that’s the secret.

Not that’s it’s a secret.

So by now you’ve probably heard that Fayetteville was recently ranked by U.S. News as the 5th best place to live in America. If you extrapolate this, no doubt Collier is one of the top five drugstores in all the land.

This year, Collier celebrates 100 years in Fayetteville.Continue Reading

University of Arkansas: Decking the Halls at Christmastime

December 15, 2016 By Talya Tate Boerner

University of Arkansas at Christmas

Yesterday, I spent some time walking around the University of Arkansas. During this almost-winter, end-of-semester, Christmas-is-a-coming season, campus has a completely different feel. The Hill is no longer packed with tailgate tents. Gone is the new fall semester excitement centering around game day. Now, students laden with backpacks and plugged into earbuds rush from here to there, briskly, because the morning is cold, and there’s somewhere to be. Campus beats at a raw, efficient pace. Let’s get ‘er done and get to Christmas or home or graduation or wherever.

Buildings are decked with boughs of holly and crowned with holiday wreaths.

Fa la la, la la la, la la la.
