It took an entire year of living in Northwest Arkansas for Lucy and Annabelle to visit Lake Fayetteville. Finally last week, on a perfect fall day, it happened. We went. What a scenic spot only minutes from our house.
Seriously, any time I can walk onto a dock, I feel my blood pressure lower. And there were several docks on Lake Fayetteville, each equipped with picnic tables and benches. Lucy and Annabelle were duly impressed, too. Of course it was their first time to see a lake, being anti-water dogs and all.
We couldn’t fish,
but that was okay.
There was plenty to see and do. Noses working overtime.
Lake Fayetteville is a nearly 200 acre body of water surrounded by 458 acres of land. What was originally built in 1950 to serve as the area’s drinking water source is now used only for recreational purposes. A 5.5-mile nature trail (partially paved) circles the lake which includes a softball complex on one end and the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks on the other.
Ample space for schnauzers to schnauze.
Why didn’t we take a picnic?

We hike the Lake Fayetteville trail when we visit and it is definitely one of our favorite happy places. Now that you have been there I am sure you will go back.

Love the girls’ thoughts. NO Baths, please. May have to wait until spring for that picnic, but I think you should definitely plan one–and take a friend along. Hint, hint.
