Hey there! Welcome to my “About Me” page. I hope you’ll stay awhile and come back often. I’ll do my best to keep you entertained with what I’m cooking and writing and growing in my garden. I enjoy talking about nostalgia and taking you home with me to our family farm in the Arkansas Delta. I strive to highlight local businesses and artists because buying local is important.
Things I love? Writing in the early, early morning with a pot of coffee. Good books (hardback preferably). Witty people who laugh and smile and do what they say. A nice glass of wine. Black-eyed Susans growing wild on the side of the road. Hiking through the Ozarks. A room with a view. My dogs. Snowfall. The Mississippi River. Egg dishes and mismatched vintage plates. College football. Cookbooks. Country music. Flea markets. Kettle corn. Digging in the dirt. Old movies. The change of seasons. Tortilla soup. Instagram. My family. A great old church hymn. Really, I’m a rather uncomplicated person who strives to find beauty in the ordinary. And KINDNESS. I’m big on kindness.
Things I don’t love? Clutter. Loud music and constant chatter. Mosquitoes. Typos and poor grammar. Humidity. Close-minded folks. Shopping for clothes. Condescension. Hate. Procrastination. Squirrels that hog the seed in my bird feeder. Mansplaining—just don’t!
My mantra: I try to do something creative every day.
