It’s no secret I love to shareย all the interestingย things happening in Mississippi County, Arkansas. That’s where I grew up and where my Mommaย still farms. Nowย we can add Little Custom Homes, LLCย to the coolness.
How cuteย are these? The only thing missing is a puppy on each porch.
Am I right?
I’ve not officially toured these homes, but I’ve driven by them, stalked them from afar, and memorizedย the photos on the website. And whileย I’mย not (yet) a tiny house dweller, these Little Custom Homes (company owned by Bill Denton) make me believe I could pareย down my stuffย to those can’t-live-without books belongings. So often, I feel stifled by stuff.ย Don’t you?
There’s certainly a minimalist movement at work in our cluttered lives. A less is more attitude. I work toward that daily in my home and in the words I write. Eliminating the muddleย and surrounding myself with what’s important to me. That’s long been my recipe for simplifying things. It helps meย think more clearly, too.
My Favorite Things about these particular Little Custom Homes:
- I’m a big fan of the craftsman construction style;
- Porches! Front and Back or Wrap-Around;
- These homes are completely customizable;
- Local owner / builder / employees.
This row of Little Custom Homes sits perched together off the interstate nearย Bassett. Homes can be built and delivered to your lot within one hundred miles of Wilson.
These homes fit the landscape. Theyย remind me of the sharecropper homes back in the day, like Johnny Cash’s home place (in a positiveย way, not in a back-breaking, cotton-chopping way). Today, small represents freedom. Less debt. The ability to live life without beingย tied to giganticย home obligations.
More info:
Little Custom Homesย can be rented or purchased on a rent-to-own plan. I understand there’s a long wait list, so if you’re interested, better queue up. Traditional mortgage financing is available to qualified purchasers.
Homes range from around 512 to 950 square feet and approximately $105 psf air-conditioned space.ย Construction designย include exposed beams and shiplap walls. If you keep up with everyone’s favorite Fixer Upper, you know shiplap is the new sliced bread.
According to the buzz, aย Little Custom Homes development is coming soon to Keiser,ย on the location of the school grounds. This is the sort of thing that can certainly boostย a small town. (And for those of you following along, Keiser was once known asย Savage Crossing.)
Check out and follow Little Custom Homes’ Facebook pageย for more information.
Can you see yourself in a little custom home?

Yes – I’d like one delivered PLEASE to Mountain View, Arkansas – on that little plot of land I posted on facebook recently. I could leave right now and live there forever. Interesting and informative post, Talya. Bravo!

I love them. Craftsman is a favorite style for me. Now they need to plant some trees like that single picture. My daddy would plant trees.

Yes to trees!
