Preheat oven to 325. Rub cobbler dish with part of butter. Mix fruits and granulated sugar and set aside. Mix remaining ingredients thoroughly then stir into fruit mixture. Set aside.
For Batter
Cream shortening and sugar together. Combine salt, flour and baking powder. Add to creamy mixture alternately with milk. Pour into baking dish and top with July cobbler fruit. Bake 45 minutes to an hour. Fruit will rise to the top.
